What Is Mircette?

Mircette (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel) is a birth control pill that contains female hormones that can prevent ovulation and in the same time changes your uterine lining and cervical mucus as a way to make it difficult for egg to attach to the uterus.

Do Not Use Mircette If…

• You happen to be pregnant or suspect that you are pregnant
• Has hormone related cancer such as breast and uterine cancer
• Has problem with your liver – it could be liver cancer or disease.
• Experience serious migraine and headaches
• People with obesity problem are usually advised against using Mircette
• You are older than 35 years old.

Only use Mircette according to the dosage prescribed by your doctor. It comes in a 28-day pack and has seven reminder pills to keep you on regular cycle. Make sure you start a new pack when you run out of pills completely.

Stop Using Mircette If…
• You experience serious migraine and headache
• Noticed a breast lump developing
• Experience problem with your contact lenses
There are drugs that are known to affect the effectiveness of Mircette, such as:
• Acetaminophen
• Antibiotic
• St. John’s wort
• IV medicines such as amprenavir

You might experience breakthrough bleeding, especially during your first 3 months of using it.
You will need to check with your doctor to see if the medicine or health supplements that you’re taking is not going to interact with Mircette and reduce its effectiveness to help you prevent pregnancy. Never use any other health supplements without checking it with your doctor first.

Like other birth control pills, it will not protect you against HIV, Aids and STD, so make sure you wear protection such as condoms and spermicides when necessary.
