What is Ovral?
Ovral (ethinyl estradiol/norgestrel) is a combination of female hormones that helps to prevent ovulation. It also causes the cervical lining to change and make it harder for the egg to attach itself to the uterus.
Do Not Use Ovral If…
• Pregnant women or those who suspect they’re pregnant shouldn’t take Ovral as it might pose danger to her and the baby.
• You happen to experience blood clot before this
• Smoker and anyone above 35 years old is advised against using Ovral.
• If you happen to have hormone related cancer like breast and uterine cancer.
• The hormones contained in the birth control pill can go through breast milk and affect your baby if you happen to breastfeed him.
There are also herbs and vitamins that will reduce the effectiveness of Ovral, so it is advisable that you consult your doctor first before you use it with other health supplements.
Always use it according to the prescription given by your doctor, do not use it more or less than the dosage prescribe as it might affect its effectiveness to help you prevent pregnancy.
Take it during the time mentioned during your visit to the doctor because failure to do so will increase the likelihood of you getting pregnant.
Ovral is not suitable for smoker. So you should not take it or avoid smoking if you’re planning to use it.
Known side effects includes:
Chest pain, numbness, breast lump, increased hair growth, vaginal itching and discharge.
Seek emergency help from your doctor if any of the condition above happens to you.
Ovral help you to prevent pregnancy but it will not protect you against STD, HIV and Aids, so make sure you use condoms and spermicides whenever necessary.
